S.R.: GC32 CLASS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP - Summer Sailing Season is finally Hot

After the last week of stormy weather the Lago di Garda has showed a perfect condition for the regatta: the southerly wind “Ora” up to +15[kts] and very small waves, and sunny.
A Sun that has made the atmosphere scorching on the ground (T above 28[°C]) and on the standing. So completely different from the last year.
The new event, World Championship, has brought new blood and rises the fight. All team has run pushing the boats immediately on foiling.
Even for me finally good condition to shoot, and helped by the organization (in particular the driver of the R.I.B., the big A.) we fly up to 30[kts] and still… GC32 could run faster…
The only bad thing I’ve to report has been the haze/smog that arrived from South in late noon, d/t the thermal effect on the humidity from last weeks, that has reduced the crispy from our pictures.
At the departure, I could see one general recall and a couple of individual. Up wind gate has had a lot of fighting with the wind well balanced in the center. Just Norauto has a problem during a race, when in a not clear situation has harpooned the right-hand buoy.
On the downwind mark, mostly the teams have preferred the west coast with “Gran Lasco” before gybe/tack d/t some wind-shift and more pressure from the still cold air from the mountain (peaks still have snow…).
Stay Tune, because the standing is very tight, and I so Oman very quick!
For me it’s time to go to bed and tomorrow change lake to go to visit Bellano (lago di Lecco) (the home of the Coppa Bellano, the oldest cup in Italy, more or less like the America’s Cup…) to shoot the Italian Championships Soling Class + Zonal Star Class.
