The first main event POST Panerai Classic Yacht Challenge has opened today the gates today.

First ingredients: Wind and Waves are in, and some boats were out to do some practise, we just hope the forecast doesn’t change in “Orage” (n.d.t.:thunderstorm).

Second Ingredient: Yachts and Sailors, and they are in, the participants are above 50 so there are also a lot of sailors, old faces and new faces. The number of Big Boat in Antibes has never been high but sincerely 3 is very low, and some like Cambria, TUIGA D-3 and Moonbeam IV D-8 are still missing, and of course is missing EILEAN 449 (Do you remember what they said last November???).

I’m still thinking that it has been underestimate the change of the date (one week later) because now the event (LVA) is the same week of the departure of the Rolex-Giraglia and out of the 2nd June week (Italian National holidays), This means that many sailors (and boats) are obliged to choose one or the other (for example TUIGA D-3 is in the list of the Giraglia).

By the way the party on the starting line will be full!

Third Ingredient: the docks, apart the missing of the old sponsor and its private village on the fort, the organization has opened a new “Bistro” with Sushi and huîtres (n.d.t.: oysters) in front to the traditional open-bar with the “Peroni’s umbrellas”; the blue-Panerai flags (now I’ve to find a new subject to shoot) have been replaced with the new blue-graphic-flags of the new sponsors “Hill Robinson Yacht Management Consultants”. Near the gate of the port of the mega-yachts this year there’s the stand of the Tesla Cars (finally someone has moved away the group of pelmets)

The crew of the organization is feeling the new big “complication”, but I know them for 5 years and they always put a lot of sailing passion in the recipe for the LVA, the sailors meeting of classic sailing.
