First of all a big hug and all thoughts to the team of M. and their relatives to wish all goods after the medical emeregercy they had yesterday. We are with you!
Second: thanks again the driver of the yellow R.I.B. that again (do you remember L.V.A. Day 1? ahh not I still to do it..) he is so fast to rescue sailors on the water! Grazie mille mon ami!
Third: che partenza Vanessa I-6636! Yes because only a legend as Torben Grael could find a solution to start from the pin with left tack with all the fleet, Il Moro di Venezia included, starting on right tack pointing the pin! Really awesome!!! (do you remember last year in St. Tropez on the mark???)
Already with the departure of the Big Boat, we noticed that the pin side was the good place to start, so after a couple of shots from the committee (sincerely not very emotional), we moved to the other side, and we saw the white and red boat testing the departure from the pin with a tack from left to right as escape. Before the last minute, the starting-line is quite long, they were "walking" along it to find the right spot and speed keeping an eye on the fleet. The rest of the fleet decided to run all the line on right tack pointing the pin, just few second to go and here the champion made a 180° turn and entered in front to the all fleet with all Momentum and that has given the possibility to pass all the others and gain a big vantage on all competitors.
Leaving the bay, the big boat Elena of London A9 and Tuiga D-3 were already on the third mark and the last one has lost here the leadership.
The external mark was placed near the Esterel-La Napoule (Parc de la Pointe de l'Aiguille) beach. One of the most beautiful landscape for sailing.
Moonbeam of Fife 88 has been obliged to enter deep in the harbour well behind the rocks to tack.
As we could experimented last year, and with the missing of the support of PANERAI, the club has rent from the local company (n.d.a.: Black Tenders, they are very good, very safety, and dry, but for shooters still a bit far..) one big R.I.B. with 10 places as press-boat. So after the party of the classic we moved to Juan-les-Pins bay for 5.5m Class and Dragon Class.
Here, after the difficult weather, they have a fantastic field with the typical Mediterranean weather: warm, wind up to 15[kts] and small-medium wave.
The first departure we have seen with U flag, participants were too excited, and General recall drops.
So we left them for a while to follow the last race of the 5.5m that has given us some good shots.
Finished with them we watched the last race of the day, the dragons under Black Flag... very symmetrical field, I cannot tell exactly which side was better, but it was dominated by 2 Italian boats and the fleet was quite compact for a so big number.
On the docks after the race, we have to report the explosion of the a Gennaker for Paulena and a Spreader for Pandora G-9.
Last Note: Day 3 Has been canceled due to wind over the limit (gust 25-30[kts])

I don't need of the speed to enjoy the sailing... Grande Torben, che maestria!
