Yes, finally after three and half month of waiting, the 25° edition of the Les Voiles d’Antibes has opened the gate.
Under the “CANICOLA” abnormal for the coast and a “Indian summer light” the old ladies are flying on the water.

The “atmosfera” is particular, everyone is ready to jump and go but the mask on the faces (I hope also the app on the smartphone) and the “spada di Damocles” of the COVID-19 (France still nearly 10’000 new cases daily) cut down the mood.

The inscriptions are the usual number around 50, but some boat, last noon, were still missing (IL MORO DI VENEZIA has been reported to be on the way back from Genova to home in Sanremo, we see tomorrow; MARGA F-3 hasn’t docked but the support van is parked).
The main missing are of course, like last years, some big boat (Mariska D-1 and Moonbeam IV 8 in primis), however some new entry (smaller) for the event there are like P-5 Corinthian with the blue hull will fight the green and red with Bruno Troublé, so we have to keep an eye on match race situations.

Also many new faces under the masks, like on TUIGA D-3; the monégasque has docked with a full new young crew and has practiced all noon.

Many were out to sail like Viola and the artistic Ojala' II that was under the spi between the mega yacht “Le Grand Bleu” and the classic motor boat ATALANTA J (yes, this is another lovable feature of Antibes: be the sweet-home for megayachts)
Many colleagues are block at home d/t the pandemia (in primis Russians and Spanish).

As I said on the title, Antibes team is the stress-test, last year the first event without PANERAI, this years the first of the row under pandemia (after there’s Régates Royales and Les Voiles de St. Tropez many others before has been deleted, last Costa Smeralda) so everyone is watching how will go and, I’m quite sure, one is the Prefecture:

St. Tropez is still waiting the clearance from the Prefect!

Hoping the “orage” (n.d.t.: storm) on the inland mountain will cool down quite a lot, We go to sleep praying for the breeze!!!
