First of all some clarifications:
  • Il Moro di Venezia I-7077 didn’t arrive to Antibes, tomorrow I’ll investigate the reasons (COVID-19 and weather are the main thesis);
  • I’ve associated Bruno Troublé to the red Chip P-13, instead he is on the Corinthian P-5;
  • actually I don’t know how many boat are really there, because today some have decided to not sail some retired, some missing to join the event, so sorry tomorrow I’ll check with friends of the Race Committee.
"Le nostre preghiere” have been not heard, and the hot hazy weather was still there, so the lack of wind.
The organization and the R.C. have been brave, and they used the AP-flag only to place correctly the starting line. The wind was really weak and the sea was flat like oil (more lake condition then sea).

The advantage was on the pin (as often here) and has brought Halloween - 2 to overshoot the start and come-back mean while TUIGA D-3 has made her job flying away, slowly; the Irish boat has decided after the disengage mark to retired, I suppose d/t wind condition, low crew number on board and the huge gap with D-3.

As I expected, the P-Class has been on fire since the the start fighting with the giant Chinook NY-48 at the pin. My regret is our press boat has missed both, even if I did that it was the right place, I pick-up the responsibility of this because probably I wasn’t enough straight about with the new team/R.I.B. that collaborate. At lunch break we spoke and it was very constructive.
Back to P-Class, the new blue entry P-5 has been “magistrale” under the Troblé tactics till the disengage mark leaving the enemy far behind and eating the gap with the big D-3.

The other two have fallen in a fight with the big Halloween at that mark, with P-14 Olympic has made the right thing, keeping the Genoa hoisted while Chip P-13 has tried to hoist the Spi with negative result (stopped), off course both were downwind to the Irish beautiful lady.

Mean while the last group the Tofinou Class was victim of the weather and after the starting line they tried to rise some Gennaker, without success.

We went back for a break from the calicola and for lunch. During it, we have listened at the radio the rise of the S-flag. The Press-boat has left the dock and we have the luck to catch the arrival of the first survivors: Chinook NY-48 (not a surprise she is lighter and very strong in team), TUIGA D-3 of course, and surprise the red and green P-Class, while the blue arrived later: what happened is topic for tomorrow chat with crews.
Even if the sailing condition were questionable, it has given to us to shoot some fluid images.

If the organization has showed the usual strength, the only black dot of the day is the lack of public, the docks are “nearly” empty, is it COVID-19? Is it the period wrong (the race normally is in June)? They will discover it, till now the club has made all good, 3 press boat, one race, the usual village, and a better respect than around of the COVID-19 restrictions (France, today 10.593 new cases recorded).

 Just the weather doesn’t collaborate, tomorrow again low speed.
