A bit of delay with AP flag on docks to have the breeze. The field chosen this time has been the n. 4 so Bay of Antibes and Juan-Les-Pins, one of my preferite with an awesome background, second to l’Esterel!
The lack of disengage mark has give the freedom on departure, and match-racing has been from the beginning!
For example P-13 Chips has chosen a really fast rout to get inside the bay, but later on the La Garoupe P-5 Corinthian has overtake and on the mark on first mark the blues were already with more than 5 length ahead.

But before them the show has been in the hands of 15mIR Class with D-3 TUIGA and D-1 MaARISKA, the last in the hands of the youngest (?) lady skipper, that has told me she escaped the exams period in the Energy Department at our university, Politecnico di Milano, just for this race!!!

The battle has been great, D-3 pushing left tack over the layline on left, D-1 complaining in silent but already preparing jibs, TACK, but because D-1 was a bit faster has fallen ih the shear downwind to D-3 loosing the momentum to keep the engage downwind and inside to the mark, but again D-1 gain because Jib already hoisted… at the end D-1 and the lady has cut the line about 1min ahead.

On the second mark many of the others classes have a tight race and to manage with RRS18.x but no protest result on the table.
Thanks to the rules chosen by the prefect (as they told me) here, this year we could enjoy the mood suspended for the COVID last year, n and it’s great, with a lot of public visiting the docks.
Antibes team has made again!!! A great sailing meeting, 70 boats, good sailing field, and huge sailing exiting mood day and night!!!

Today I’m off from the race, I’m still human (I lost the last race of qualification on Virtual Regatta inshore, but I’m qualified for the 3rd time in a row for the playoff), and it’s already time to think to the dragons in the next bay.
Really wait and hope Les Voiles d’Antibes will be back in June next year!!!
