If in Monaco for the Primo Cup I was just back on the field, now finally fully recovered from the ribs broken, I’m on my lake (Lecco) at my club (Circolo Velico Tivano) to cover a class (the H22) that for long I didn’t followed and luckily or unluckily, with the ORC series, is the last to keep up the sailing of keel boats (dingy are sufficiently alive) in this spectacular panorama.

The weather has been and will be a bingo, the last week has seen finally the return of the rain and the snow on the mountains, so we had a lot of luck to be able to start and make three races, the filed has been tricky but our heroes has found the way. In particular:

The chief of the fleet Matteo has been a diesel with 2 bad start but at the last he made it, with a first place.

Alta Tensione is the boat that before the start is under the spotlight, and Alessandro has fight to be on top, and in my opinion, an over-the line tactical reaction at the first mark of the first upwind at the first race: pushing the contender very far for the good line, making a terrible strategic mistake that luckily it didn’t become a terrible result with all fleet overtake inside the mark (the arrived with at least 3-5 length on the third). Again, in my opinion, if I was on board I would protest, fairplay and good strategy are more efficient.

The contender, is a young lady, near to the graduated at my Alma Mater (PoliMi dept. of Airspace) with a thesis on hydrofoils “performance”, Maddalena, with her young team has shown an incredible performance and calm keeping up to all attacks made by Alta Tensione, in the first two races they had some problems with jibes and the spreaders loosing momentum, but they have survived, on the last race, something went wrong on the departure, but also Alta Tensione didn’t navigated well, and ate the end ITA-137 has finished in front to ITA-202.

The day has finished with a traditional dinner supported but one of the sponsor of the club and the cockerel (Galletto Vallespluga) was tasty!


Let's see if tomorrow I will be able finally to shoot a young team with a young lady skipper on the Defender brought by the main sponsor of the regatta Land Rover! (ahhh and we hope to race without rain)
