Ten years (minus a month) ago on this water we can say I started my adventure in this shooting world, and as was at time practise-race is on the table. But today less boats but bigger, from J24 to 15mIR: TUIGA D-3, Mariska D-1, The Lady Anne D-10 are on the stage.

The morning has been spent to say hello to friends, to crew of the club (that is making a huge passion to make the event unforgettable again), to supporters sponsor under the tents of the village, sailors and captains, and colleagues (I will back at the end).

While late-arrivals and classic-motorboats are under the caress of theirs owners (yes MCW is special also for this feature), around 11:00UTC the 3 big ladies as started a “small” regatta The line was perfect (the boss Thierry with his secret tool never fail) in front to Le Meridien,

the wind was perfect 10-15kts (maybe a little bit more) no big waves, sunny with couple of clouds and the fight had begun: TUIGA left tack from the pin, Mariska right tack from the RC boat, The Lady Anne in the middle trying to not overshoot.

Mean while also EMILIA I-2 and Olympian P-14 and another small boat with red spinnaker had left the port to make their own practice (yes EMILIA still have on board that notorious brother we saw in Antibes).

The race has clearly showed a superiority of D-10 (looks the crew is well oiled), second D-1 (with guests) and D-3 behind (the crew need to be “amalgamato…”); on downwind mark all crews had lowered the gennaker very earlier, at least +5 length from it, D-10 perfect exploded, D-1 was not perfect but they made it, D-3 even after some chat I didn’t get what happened, but they fly in the sky, and landed into water the sail, but the crew of the local club has been “magistraleto recover on board the huge sail without damage, Well-done mates.

On the second lap, after the upwind mark, D-1 was ready to hoist but a strange noise has pushed the crew to precaution mode and they stopped and saved the sail back.

And to all three, thanks to have brought back some of that sailor spirit we are missing for some years now… (where are Moonbeam and Espagna and co.???).

The day had finished with the inauguration party that the YCM masters perfectly.
Now it’s time to sleep, cross fingers for the meteo, and enjoy the show of some perls like CREOLE, Riva Aquarama Lamborghini…

Photographers, Video-makers Journalists, we are often invisible because we are not the subject, but we are humans, we must be very careful because if we miss a small detail we pay a lot, sometime too much, RS you will be with us always.

From Dee Caffari opens up on missing John Fish

“… We now look to the skies above and sadly see another spirit of a lost sailor take flight in an Albatross over the rest of us out here”
