LVST 2026 — Day 6 (03/10): The final day — Modern, Maxi and J Class

Last update: 3 October 2026, 16:30

Note:

The Classic results for 03/10 are not yet available. They will follow in a second part.

03/10 — The weather

The wind and the breeze arrived with a sail plan that makes the day almost too bright. Stunning conditions. A shame not to be on the RIB. The closing day is the perfect stage to capture the event in memory.

03/10 — The first arrivals

Kilara II (SUI 5103), a Wally Rocket 51 owned by Jeremy Weir, crosses the finish line first at 13:21. It is not a TP52, it is a Wally Rocket — and today it gave a lesson to everyone. Then Spirit of Lorina 2, Daguet 5, Nanoq, Arkas Blue Moon, Musica, Knutte.

03/10 — Bruno Troublé

Bruno Troublé is on the docks today. He should be on P7 (JOYANT).

03/10 — Dockside talk

Lys: serious damage to the topsides yesterday. Nothing dangerous, but important.

Il Moro di Venezia: today the boat was crowded with special guests.

03/10 — Performance: who delivered, who struggled

IR0 — Kilara II makes the move, Spirit of Lorina takes the trophy. The day opens with a surprise: Kilara II, the Wally Rocket 51 of Jeremy Weir, crosses the finish line first at 13:21. It is not a TP52, it is a Wally Rocket — and today it gave a lesson to everyone. Spirit of Lorina 2 chases at 28 seconds, Daguet 5 is third. But on corrected time it is Spirit of Lorina 2 that wins, closing the overall on 14.00 points. The BMW Trophy is hers. Kilara II is second (18.00), Nanoq third (18.00). Knutte, who led at mid-regatta, closes fourth (19.00).

IR1 — Lisa R is not up for discussion. Lisa R wins on the water and on corrected time. It is her day. Pretexte 2 is second, Andante 4 third. The overall is a duel between Lisa R and Pretexte 2: two boats, two philosophies, one trophy.

IR2 — Flight of Durgan surprises everyone. Flight of Durgan wins on corrected time, leaving Jwow and Fremito D'Arja behind. It is the twist of the day: a boat that had never been on the podium wins. The overall remains between Jwow and Fremito D'Arja, but the finale is open.

IR3 — Pride closes in style. Pride wins on corrected time. Noisy Oyster is second, Letto di Pletto third. Pride, the Swan 44 of the Jayson family, defending champion, closes at the top. Her comeback has been impressive.

IR4 — Iskareen wins, Overdose Neo holds. Iskareen wins on corrected time. Overdose Neo is second by six seconds, Corto Maltese third. The overall is between Overdose Neo and Iskareen: a duel decided by seconds.

MA1 — Jethou signs it. Jethou wins the final race and secures the Edmond de Rothschild Trophy. Balthasar is second, Northstar III third but with a penalty (DPI). V is fourth: once again the high rating (1.8030) has punished her. The Wallycento needs wind to convert power, and today she did not have enough.

J Class — Hanuman closes in glory, but the season belongs to all of them. Hanuman wins the final race. Svea is second, Rainbow third. The final standings are still to be confirmed, but Hanuman has closed in style her first participation in the J Class.

And with this race, the 2026 J Class season comes to an end. Three ladies of nearly ninety years — or faithful replicas, like Svea and Hanuman — have raced for five days in the Gulf of Saint-Tropez. They broke jibs, they won and lost, they match-raced like in the old days. Svea won three races out of six, but paid for two DNFs. Rainbow was always on the podium, but never won. Hanuman, at her first regatta in the class, won the final race. The trophy is still to be awarded, but the season is already in the books.

Tony Rey (Svea, tactician): "Closer and closer. We have to keep finding the nuggets of speed and handling."

Carlo Husiman (Rainbow, mid-bow): "There was even a bit of match racing today, which is quite funny as we all started the season saying 'right no match racing at all this season' and there we were. It's fun, it's good, keeping it safe of course."

Ed Baird: Rainbow's tactician, the "silent assassin".

Giraglia reference notes:

V showed the same pattern: wins with wind, pays the rating 1.798/1.8030 in light air.

My Song (Cayard) is consistent but does not win.

Jethou is the constant surprise in both regattas.
