Wake Up it’s xmas time, xmas regatta time!

If yesterday was a red sunset and the day has been great, today which is red like lava, how will be tomorrow???
Yup the meteo forecast was totally wrong, it’s Nice so it’s normal that is better… the sky was mostly clear and we started with a gentle northerly breeze (around 5[kts]), but some cluster still moving away changing the heating of the ground, the snow on the peaks, have created a robust easterly breeze (around 10[kts]) and the long 1-1.5[m] wave has made the field very energetic for sailors and committee.

The first race was quite classic, but the starting line has given an advantage on the pin, the top boats knowing the field decided for a classic z shape route, while others like the American has missed a bit staying on the right side.

The second race on the new field, thanks to the dynamic mark (robot buoy) by MC Marine Concept has been set up very fast, the fleet was better on the line. Better route for the American team, at the first mark ITA-8567 Negri-Lambertenghi, SUI-8539 Eckert-Melo (sorry, missed yesterday another champion, European plus olympic selected…) and USA-8570 Smith-Avellon were very close.

Unfortunately on this field we have had 4 boat out d/t various failures, and this has obliged our safety rib to help them. Also the American with a new Folli hull (about 1 year) has a problem downwind on the rigging so has been obliged be towed and retired for today.

While we were in the port, the third race had been launched. We wait the fleet on the top marks and we followed the downwind leg. At the mark the “peloton” was compact, and the Monegasque boat just few metres out of the zone, BANG, half mast down!

Luckily no-one injured, and we stop shoot to help the crew to get back safe.
At the end a good BBQ on the middle terrace of the club for all.

The standing shows those champions have already drawn a furrow, with points below 7, while the third is already at 20. Two Italians have been caught out and UFD is on the table but they are in good performance.
We will see tomorrow who will be brave to fight the top!
