It was clear from the meteo maps and from the two showers of wet sand from the sky before eight o’clock that the day would be tough, but firstly be inside the right gap between cluster to ride the bike to the port, and the same later to be back.
Today the plan is to follows the IRC 1+2 and ORC 1+2, the real esprit of the Giraglia.
Approaching the departure zone with some timid sun, in my mind has jumped some verses from D. Alighieri.
The condition were quite choppy with normal wind that has pushed the first departure to rise the General Recall, and the second was more calm.
The second class departure has been nominal but many boats have decided to tack very early, and some has forget for a while RRS. 10…
While moving to the external field and I stored the camera a beautiful example of Exocoetus Volitans has crossed our route, really a very rare occasion.
More we approach to the exit and more the sea is growing, as the wind, from about a metre to at the end of the day about 2m tall waves, for the pilot H. has been a long day of conducting, and considering the speed of the first group and that the mark was far in a atmosphere of London Fog, we have stayed near to the downwind mark.

In this position we has kept a bigger safety distance to allowed the participants enough space to manage the lower in the big wave. It’s been a really good idea, because we could enjoy the preparation and the brave spirit of the sailors in this conditions, of course not all were perfect but they manage.

Due to the condition the R.C. has made a Change (flag C) to the race and two TP52 has made a memorable moment of sailing tactics (yes I’m a fan of the TP-52 class…).
The actors on the liquid stage are: GBR-7017R Black Pearl and SUI-52111 Music A ^2.
Everything has started before the mark we where, we thought music a^ 2 had overtake Black pearl, instead this was more downwind, so we decided to catch it.
Mean while the blue boat has decide to jibe making the split the first fundamental action a brick to win.
This has obliged to luff up with maestria, their speed machine with a synchronised ballet of the crew with the mass of their body for every wave; at the others side the team working to surf longer they could and the still possible bear away more than the other. Really a neck to neck condition.
As they are engaged for long, the Sui is inside the mark, they has also used a simple small boat from the other class as obstacle for the other boat. This has allowed the SUI to have the road.

A bad day copyright © photo Alexander Panzeri |
Mean while we have closed the folder TP52, on the other side of the bay we had seen one of the most sad moment of the day: the mast of the Argentine is badly broken. All our love and support for a team has just lost the opportunity to race.
Tomorrow finally the forecast could be good, at least for the sun, for the wind is fifty-fifty ‘till after midday pressure is coming!!!
